Printable calendar 2027, computed month by month

2027 in three numbers

2027 is not a leap year, so it runs 365 days. It begins on a Friday and ends on a Friday. And it has 52 ISO weeks: a year is long — 53 weeks instead of 52 — only when it opens on a Thursday, or when it is a leap year opening on a Wednesday, and 2027 does neither. That matters if your reporting runs on week numbers, because the year before it is a 53-week year and the transition sits inside the first days of January.

The three holidays that move in 2027

A federal holiday landing on a Saturday is observed the preceding Friday, and one landing on a Sunday the following Monday. That is 5 U.S.C. § 6103(b) and it is the single most commonly mishandled thing in a printed calendar. In 2027 the rule fires 3 times — more than most years — and each time it puts the day off on a different date from the holiday:

• Juneteenth National Independence Day falls on Saturday, June 19, 2027; the federal day off is Friday, June 18, 2027.
• Independence Day falls on Sunday, July 4, 2027; the federal day off is Monday, July 5, 2027.
• Christmas Day falls on Saturday, December 25, 2027; the federal day off is Friday, December 24, 2027.

The calendar marks both dates, labelling the moved one “(observed)”, because a sheet that shows only one of them is wrong for half the people reading it. If you are building a payroll or leave calendar from this, take the observed column — and check it against your employer, since private employers are not bound by the federal list at all. Which months of 2027 need six rows

Row count is the fact that decides whether a printed month is comfortable or cramped, and it changes with the week start as well as with the month. With the default Sunday-start week, 3 months of 2027 need six rows: January, May, October. With a Monday start the set changes to May and August. Every other month fits in five.

There is a rarer case in this year too. February occupies only four rows in raw geometry — a 28-day February beginning exactly on the week-start day borrows no cells from either neighbour at all. The printed sheet still uses five so the boxes match the months either side of it, and the table below shows both numbers rather than pretending the answer is always five or six.

The moving dates: Easter, the clock and the solstice

Easter in 2027 is unusually early — Sunday, March 28, 2027 — because the date is not astronomical but ecclesiastical: the Sunday after the first ecclesiastical full moon on or after 21 March, from a fixed lunar table. That makes it exactly computable rather than approximate, which is why this site calculates it instead of storing it. US daylight saving time starts on March 14 and ends on November 7, both fixed by statute since 2007 and both marked on the grid.

The December solstice is the one figure here that is an approximation. It is computed for December 22 at about 02:42 UTC, good to roughly a minute — and because that instant is only a couple of hours past midnight UTC, in every United States time zone it falls on the previous day. A calendar printed for a US reader marks the 21st. This is the kind of thing worth stating rather than rounding into a confident single date.

A twelve-month sheet is a reference calendar, not a writing surface: at Letter size each day box is a few millimetres across, which is fine for checking what weekday a date falls on and useless for notes.
